MISSOURI MAN ARRESTED FOR DWI

Missouri law requires drivers to have control of their vehicles at all times. When a driver fails to keep control of a vehicle, it can usually be traced back to driver error. Issues contributing to driver error may include tiredness, distractions, intoxication (drugs, alcohol) and aggressive driving.

Far too often, the injuries resulting from a car accident are caused by a drunk driver. Each state has different restrictions, limits, and penalties regarding alcohol. Driving while intoxicated (DWI), or driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol is evidently negligence. A driver who drinks and drives puts every other driver on the road at risk, not to mention pedestrians and passengers in vehicles.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 38-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and for assault after a two-vehicle accident on a highway. According to the police report, one man was driving a 2005 Ford F-350 truck, and the 38-year-old was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier nearing the highway before he ran a red light. The Cavalier hit the left side of the pickup truck, which was turning left onto the highway.

The police report stated that the 38-year-old was seriously hurt and two other people — a 27-year-old man and a two-year-old boy — had minor injuries in the car accident. All the victims were taken to local hospitals. The two men were not wearing seatbelts, but the two-year-old boy was in a car seat.

If the actions of another individual operating a car or other motor vehicle were careless, that negligent individual could be responsible for damages. Damages can include a personal injury caused by his or her actions for any pain and suffering, loss of wages, serious injuries, and medical expenses. To determine the negligence of another, investigators can immediately locate witnesses and obtain statements. A legal professional is your best asset when it comes to taking a course of action that can approach some stability and peace in your life, after such a harrowing experience.
